Hell Kitchen

This show isn't really a competition like Top Chef or American Idol, where the best bubble up and the rest well are the rest. HK is more like survivor, where the drama is more important than showing skill. The two episodes I've seen it's a scream fest were the contestants are put under stress. The show ends with an elimination from the players, not the judges. This leads to players culling the other strong contestants. Which doesn't result in the best at then end of the show.

Top Chef's drama comes from reaching for excellence. HK's drama really resides in Gordon Ramsey's tantrums.

Top Chef has it's problems for example recently a contestant was culled even though an other deserved it more. But the person was kept I'm sure for purely dramatic reasons.
